8 students participated in the exciting and thrilling Olympieda finals, which took place on Thursday, October 30. This year’s theme was Earth in a Time Tunnel and the final stage was filmed and will be broadcasted on the net.
Know a thing or two…
The finals are the highlight of the Olympieda project; Olimpiyeda = Knoledge Olympics.
5000 students, grades 8-9 from all across Israel are selected carefully and go through a series of tests. The top 30 students are sent to a summer science camp at the Technion and Madatech, which includes science studies and workshops, tours at geological sites and visits to research institutions in Israel. Out of these 30 participants, the ones with exceptional achievements got into the Olympieda finals.
Who knew…?
This year’s first prize winner is Inbar Svorai, a 9th grade student at Ort high school in Rehovot, who won a full scholarship for one year at the Technion. At second place arrived Noa Palmon from Jerusalem; at third place arrived Erez Zimerman from Haifa and fourth place was given to Hen Sigal from Rishon Le-Zion. All winners were granted with a financial award.
